VANCOUVER -- Kara Langs triumphant return to the pitch is still a work in progress. Jerome Robinson Jersey . Nine months after the former Canadian soccer star launched a remarkable comeback effort from a seemingly career-ending knee injury, the 27-year-old has been named to Canadas roster for Sundays friendly against Mexico in Vancouver. But head coach John Herdman said on a conference call Wednesday that Lang still has work to do on her rehabilitation and isnt ready to play yet. "Karas part of a long-term process," Herdman said. "Weve been working fantastically with B2ten (a fundraising organization for Canadian athletes) on a rebuilding process with Kara -- literally rebuilding her functional movements from scratch. "Part of the process is getting her immersed with this team. ... A big part of her being on this roster is that shes going to get an experience in BC Place, which will be the stadium that hosts the final of the Womens World Cup." Herdman said the team is targeting a return to action for Lang in the first quarter of 2014. He said Lang isnt participating in any scrimmages in training at this point. "Look, the reality is we could put her in, but the big challenge for Kara is shes been brought back too quickly too soon in the past which has led to this consistent breakdown," Herdman said. "If you think about rebuilding a car, weve literally, through B2ten, rebuilt certain parts of Kara to help her become more efficient as an athlete so she doesnt keep breaking down with the same issues." The fact that Lang is on the roster at is huge for a player whos career was essentially over. The Mexico match comes nearly three years after two torn ACLs forced Lang to walk away from the game, tearfully announcing her retirement at a news conference in her hometown of Oakville. Veteran striker Josee Belanger is also returning to the national team after more than two years away with an ankle injury, but Herdman said she suffered a setback in training is not yet fit for game duty. "Josee came in, had a fantastic start to our training, beat three players, scored a goal and went off injured," Herdman said. "That was her first return back to Canada Soccers training environment. "Josee is going to be out for a period of time now. Its more precautionary, just to help rebuild a player that hasnt been playing at this level for at least two years." Both Belanger, a Sherbrooke, Que., native, and Lang were key players Canadas 2010 CONCACAF victory before being sidelined by injuries. Lang is Canadas second all-time active goal scorer, with 34 goals. She played in two womens World Cups, in 2003 and 2007, as well as the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Eighteen of the players 23 players named to the roster were part of Canadas 3-0 victory over South Korea in Edmonton last month, including Sura Yekka, a 16-year-old defender from Mississauga, Ont., who earned her first senior team call-up for that game. Rachel Melhado, a 20-year-old defender who plays for University of Louisville, will take part in her second senior camp. Her previous games for Canada include a 1-0 loss to Germany last June. Shes also played for Canadas under-18 and U20 squads. The game marks Canadas first in Vancouver and the first versus Mexico since a 3-1 Canadian win at the CONCACAF qualifying tournament in January of 2012 that secured Canadas spot in the London Olympics. "Theres a healthy rivalry with Mexico and I know they will be ready for this game," Herdman said. "Well be diligent with our work as well as keep focused on our goals leading into 2015. He went 27 of 37 for 361 yards to become the NFLs fifth player with 60 300-yard games.Im not sure really, historically, Brady said. I have a lot of respect for this team. They play hard every time we play them. I think we just come out on the winning end. Its good to be on the winning end.Brandon LaFell scored on 17- and 56-yard passes less than six minutes apart in the fourth quarter. Tim Wright and Brian Tyms also caught touchdowns. The Patriots defence forced three turnovers and New England never trailed. And it doesnt seem to matter whos signing the Bills checks.Brady and the Patriots dominated their AFC East rival under the tenure of late Hall of Fame owner Ralph Wilson, who died in March. On Sunday, they spoiled the Bills new era under Terry and Kim Pegula, the Buffalo Sabres owners who completed their NFL-record $1.4 billion purchase of the team last week. The Patriots (4-2) gained sole possession of first place in the division in moving ahead of the Bills (3-3). And they did so by beating Buffalo for the sixth straight time. Its frustrating, Bills tight end Scott Chandler said. Theyve been the top dog in our division since the division was formed.LaFell, a newcomer in New England, isnt surprise by the lopsided edge Brady has enjoyed over Buffalo.Hes a winner, man, said LaFell, who had four catches for 97 yards. That guy comes out every week and puts us in a situation to win games. And so much for questions about Brady being over the hill and the Patriots being vulnerable. Coming off a 43-17 win over Cincinnati, New England has won two straight since being blown out 41-14 at Kansas City on Sept. 29.I dont pay attention to that noise, receiver Julian Edelman said. The Bills failed to build on the momentum of a thrilling come-from-behind 17-14 win at Detroit a week earlier. They let down a soldout crowd that was on its feet, chanting TERR-RRY! TERR-RRY! as Pegula and his entiree family were introduced at midfield during a pregame ceremonyOnce the game began, Buffalos offence was sloppy, and its defence uncharacteristically porous. Tobias Harris Jersey. Kyle Orton went 24 of 38 for 299 yards with touchdown passes to Robert Woods and Chris Hogan. But he threw an interception and lost a fumble in his second start since taking over for EJ Manuel. Running back C.J. Spiller also lost a fumble, with the three second-quarter turnovers leading to 13 New England points.Ive got to be better with the football, Orton said. The Patriots took control on their drives before and after halftime. New England went up 13-7 on Stephen Gostkowskis 53-yard field goal to close the second quarter. Then the Patriots opened the third with the ball, and Brady efficiently capped a six-play, 80-yard drive with a 43-yard pass over the middle to Tyms, who outmuscled cornerback Stephon Gilmore and came down with the ball in the end zone.Hogans 8-yard touchdown catch and Woods 2-point conversion pulled Buffalo within 30-22 with 5:58 remaining. But facing second-and-12 at his own 44, Brady hit LaFell up the right sideline for a touchdown to clinch the victory. The Patriots overcame injuries to several starters. Linebacker Jerod Mayo did not return after hurting his knee in the first half. Running back Stevan Ridley did not come back after injuring his right knee in the third quarter. Guard Dan Connolly also sustained a concussion.Patriots coach Bill Belichick said all three players would be evaluated, but specifically referred to Mayos injury as a little bittersweet.NOTES: Brady is two 300-yard passing games shy of matching Brett Favres total. It was also Bradys 16th career game with four or more touchdowns and no interceptions. ... Chandler led Buffalo with six catches for a career-high 105 yards, becoming the teams first tight end to surpass 100 yards since Pete Metzelaars had 113 on Sept. 13, 1992. ... Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski had seven catches for 94 yards, but an 18-yard TD was nullified in the fourth quarter by a holding penalty against guard Jordan Devey.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '
